#BBSFallGiveaway2014 - FREE FALL GIVEAWAY!

Ok - I promised!  Finally, after solving technical and other life delays, here are the pieces for this Blue Beehive Studio Fall Giveaway 2014!

Entries this time are only through Facebook (sorry Twitter folks... next time I think I'll do a Twitter Giveaway!). Visit --->> HERE <<---for Facebook link and details on how to win (post made October 9th)!

As mentioned in Facebook, the winner gets to choose ONE piece only (who doesn't like options?!?!). Didn't win this time?  You can get your chance - pieces will be listed on the ETSY store after October 17th!

PIECE ONE:

We just saw the great lunar eclipse this morning (wow!), so I had to toss in a piece with something red....   earrings!

Dragonflies (plated in fine Silver) are suspended from a red mountain jade stone.  Earwire is silver plated.

For size reference....    Not too big.

PIECE TWO:
A bracelet!

This one is made from imitation turquoise, glass beads, and silver plated beads.

Suspended in the center is a symbol called the "Prayer labyrinth".  It is also known as a meditation labyrinth and is an old symbol for spiritual growth.

It measures approximately 7.5" long with a 1.5" chain extender.  It closes with a gunmetal lobster claw clasp.

Too long?  I can shorten it if you'd like.  Measure your wrist and add .25" or .5" (depending upon how tight you like your bracelets).

PIECE THREE:
Another bracelet!

This one features the Tree of Life pendant with black lava rock and green serpentine stones. Small silver plated beads are also spaced in the piece.

The bracelet is approximately 7" long with a 1.5" chain extender.
Too long?  I can shorten it if you'd like.  Again, measure your wrist and add .25" or .5" (depending upon how tight you like your bracelets).

GOOD LUCK!!!  If you didn't win, don't worry!

After October 17th, these will be available on my Etsy shop.

Indeterminate inflorescences - fascicle - and other items, too!

I totally love living with a botanist.  I mean, you seriously can't drive anywhere in the world without fascinating comments on the vegetation around you (and likewise, my favorite living-with-a-botanist movie experience was, "PAUSE THE MOVIE! That's a GYPSUM DEPOSIT in the background!!!!!).

So - my take of an indeterminate inflorescences called a fascicle.  I have no clue what it all means, and admire people who do....

And I still love playing with Mercury Dimes....  What is that under it?  Ostrich egg shell.  Shhhh! It is my daughter's shell.  But since she's at school (so I couldn't possibly ask her!), I don't think she would mind me borrowing it : )

Celtic braids and rocks . . . .

Ok... did I mention?  I built a light box. The oh-so-easy-recycled-materials-light-box that I SHOULD have built 2 years ago (can I procrastinate or what?).  Seriously, it took less than 30 minutes.  But the BEST part is that now I can take pictures any old time my heart desires!  So new items are being stocked at the Etsy store every few days.....

And having fun mixing up all the stones I have....

So stop on by and see what is new!  Etsy store is here : )

Red Aventurine... and add Honey Crisp apples to your bucket list this fall!

Red aventurine should really be called orange, but nobody asked me when they were naming the stone : )  However, this bracelet absolutely reminds me of fall - the leaf colors, apple cider and cinnamon.  Which reminds me that I really need to go and do something with that other huge bag of apples that we picked last week (we already plowed through one bag of Honey Crisp, which if you've never tried, you need to put that at the top of your bucket list this fall!)

Fall colors.... Boho inspired bracelets

I've been having a lot of fun lately....  First, I made my very own light box (yay!), which makes picture taking a LOT easier than waiting for those 30 minutes when the lighting outside is perfect.  And that 30 minute window of opportunity?  I'd have to wish that it wasn't freezing outside, or raining, or that my kids needed help with some crazy project.

Total lighting independence.  YAY!  Secondly - I've been inspired by fall colors and bohemian inspired bracelets.  LOVE how various bracelets stack, so I'm making my own versions for the Etsy store.  That, and still coding the website, but hopefully that will be done by the end of September!

I hope everyone is enjoying the early fall weather!

#Botany2014

Time is flying by!  School is out, summer is in full swing, and I'm gearing up to be a vendor at Botany 2014!!!!   So unfortunately, I've been crazy busy and haven't blogged at all lately....  Want to see what I'll be bringing to the conference?  I'll be posting pictures as the days roll out on Facebook - Blue Beehive Studio -  as well as Twitter (@theBlueBeehive).  Enjoy!

#BBSMarchGiveaway! Free earrings!

UPDATE 3/19/14:  Winner was chosen and notified!  Details on the Facebook page and Twitter feed #BBSMarchGiveaway.

I've been wanting to do a giveaway for awhile now, but how crazy has the past few months been?  Seriously, staying warm and getting past the bleak below freezing temperatures sucked the life out of me.  Nature has laws, but it should include one more - no more snowing past March 1st in the mid-West.

Today was gorgeous - sunny and 47 degrees - which means no jackets and plenty of puddle stomping.  And a very muddy driveway.  But mud is a warm welcome compared to the cold we've had...

And, to celebrate the (hopefully) arrival of Spring - the Blue Beehive Studio March Giveaway, a.k.a. on Twitter as #BBSMarchGiveaway. Want details?  Then click HERE to see how you can win these earrings:

Last chance to enter is March 17th, 2014 - midnight EST.  I'll announce the winner on Twitter and Facebook the following day.... Good luck!

Where does the time fly?

It has been awhile since the last blog post! I'd ask where the time went, but I already know the answer.  It was passed taking care of sick kids (all better now!), shoveling snow, hauling in firewood, and keeping warm.  January was brutal, and I can't believe February is half gone!

A general shout out to all the folks who supported Blue Beehive Studio in 2013... from purchases, encouragement, sharing the site, etc.  It was an amazing year!  I stepped up the game a bit and now carry Sterling Silver pieces like the earrings below.  What I *REALLY* want to do is buy a kiln by the end of the year to produce completely unique pieces, but I have to save up for that!  We'll see how it goes....

Until then, please take a look at the new pieces found at the store!

Back to the basics. . .

Black cotton cord necklace with Mercury Dime pendantSometimes life is too complicated, you know?  I have to remember to sit back and smell the roses, or these days, sit back and watch the flames from the fireplace.

I returned to the basics at the shop - simplicity at it's best...  Mercury Dime pendants on a simple, elegant black waxed cotton cord necklace.  They sold well last year, so figured someone else this year wants one, too!

Available at The Blue Beehive Etsy Store.

Want one created in a specific year (1916 - 1945)?  Most likely I have that year, or can get it for you.  Custom necklaces with specific stones can also be arranged.

The Hera Collection 2014

The Hera Collection 2014 arrived at the Etsy store today!  Very excited!  I worked with an artist friend of mine who covered some mojo beans with 24k gold leaf.  The results were some beautifully organic looking beans.  From there, she asked me to design some jewelry around it.  So I did - and the Hera Collection was born.

My oldest daughter, who is interested in Greek mythology, decided the year 2014 should have a collection each month dedicated to a different Greek god/goddess.  We decided to start with Hera, whose symbol is a peacock.  The Hera Collection features the Golden Mojo Bean with an array of semiprecious stones in a variety of colors.

The Hera Collection 2014 can be found on line at:

January Sale!

Happy (belated) New Year ! ! !  Yes, I've neglected the blog. Sorry, my bad.  Hopefully we can still be friends....  So we're getting ready at this end for "The Storm".  You know, freezing weather, nasty winds, and possible power outages.

To warm things up a bit, I'm doing an online coupon at my Etsy store from now until Friday, January 10th, midnight (EST).  "STORM15" for 15% off your purchase (doesn't include shipping), $20 min. purchase.  While I usually ship items within 24hrs, that might not be possible this week... you get a discount, but you may have to wait until the roads are cleared before I can send it to you!

Visit shop here:  Blue Beehive Studio on Etsy
So come on over and visit the store!  Picture above, Lotus Root Pendant.

Coupon code: "STORM15", 15% off purchase from now until Jan. 10, 2014 (midnight EST).
